Structural engineer survey cost: fixed fees UK engineers publish
Updated
A structural engineer's survey costs £400 to £900 from the nine UK engineering firms that publish a fixed fee on their own page, with a median of £695, read on 28 October 2026. The fee buys a site visit by an engineer and a written report on the defect or the structure, with what to do next.

The published fees
From £400 at SBS Structures, £495 at Structural Surveys and EMA Structures, £500 at Structural Engineer Calcs, £695 plus VAT at Met Surveyors, around £700 at Harding Surveyors and Notting Hill Surveyors, £750 plus VAT at Structural Inspections and £900 including VAT at Alemara (every row, with its source).
What you get
A visit to the property, a record of the cracks or movement, the likely cause, and the engineer's recommendation: repair, monitoring, or no action. A lender, insurer or solicitor may ask for the report to be by a chartered engineer, so say if that is why you need it.
The duty the engineer owes you
An engineer paid for a service must perform it with reasonable care and skill (Consumer Rights Act 2015, section 49).
Published fees are what each firm advertises on its own page, read on 28 October 2026; they are not a quote for your property.
